Zero Hours Justice was contacted by a number of former casual workers whose employment was terminated by Turner Contemporary. They had all worked for more than two years for the organisation in what became regular working patterns and were furloughed on the basis that they had regular working patterns. After reopening for a short while in the summer, the gallery closed again for refurbishment and restructuring. The workers were informed that their specific roles were being discontinued and they were invited to re-interview for newly created roles - many of them were not successful. They sought to claim for redundancy pay and notice pay. We provided varying degrees of support to the workers in their claim, including representation during Acas conciliation, which all the workers were happy with.
