Zero Hours Justice was contacted by a group of social workers who were directly employed on a zero hours contract by Cambridgeshire County Council. The council had said they were unable to furlough them, even though agency workers used by the council to do the same work had been furloughed by their agency. The social workers were looking for additional advice to strengthen their case, which had also been taken up by their union.
Many thanks for asking for an update. We have been kept on on average wage and are still keeping account of hours worked and the council will pay whichever is higher. Your responses at the time were appreciated and helped me get a good result from the council.
